2017 saw the unexpected, sad death of Patricia Green at her isolated cabin in the south of Oregon. The rest of the team – including her long-term partner in wine, Jim Anderson – are still in a state of shock but it’s clear that under Jim’s stewardship, this trail-blazing Ribbon Ridge estate is making some of the greatest wines anywhere in the valley.
Wine Enthusiast magazine awarded one of Jim’s 2016 bottlings 100 points; the first perfect score for any Oregon wine
Demand for Jim’s wines in the US has absolutely skyrocketed in recent years (100-points aside, Jim is regularly the best rated in publications like Vinous). The great thing is how fairly priced these wines remain, despite the demand and attention. Jim makes his wines with the Old World in the back of his mind and these wonderfully characterful renditions of our beloved Pinot Noir are neither flashy, nor oaky, but simply beautifully transparent interpretations of their respective terroirs.
